The société Française de Statistique (SFdS) is a non-profit association gathering more than 800 members.
The SFdS is a privileged place for meetings, exchanges and reflections of the major actors in the field of statistics and data science, whether they are from the public or private sector.
The mission of the SFdS is to promote the use and understanding of statistics and research advances. To this end, it facilitates exchanges between statisticians in government, business, education and research institutions through a wide range of activities: conferences, workshops, seminars, publications, continuing education, etc. The SFdS was recognised as a public utility by a decree of 3rd December 1998.
Each year, the SFdS organizes a congress which currently brings together more than four hundred participants from various backgrounds: experienced or novice statisticians, academics or not, researchers or users.
The SFdS publishes two open access electronic journals, as well as book series in partnership with publishers. The new journal “Computo” aims at promoting computational contributions in statistics and machine learning. This journal goes beyond classical static publications by leveraging technical advances in literate programming and scientific reporting. The reproducibility of numerical results is a necessary condition for publication in Computo.
