AMIES (Agency for Math-Industry Relationships) was created in 2011. It is a research support unit of CNRS and Université Grenoble Alpes in partnership with Inria. AMIES develops mathematical research collaborations with companies (with a particular focus on SMEs).
Running structuring initiatives like PEPS (Initial Support for Exploratory Projects), AMIES aims at enabling companies to solve key technological issues and boost company innovation. While SEMEs (Maths-Companies Study Weeks) give companies the opportunity to test the benefits offered by mathematics on a subject worked on by doctoral students for a week.
AMIES helps companies to meet students and young graduates in mathematics by organising the FEM (Maths Employment Forum) which it attracts over 1500 participants each year.
AMIES is also a founding member of the European Service Network of Mathematics for Industry and Innovation (EU-MATHS-IN). Eu-Maths-In promotes exchanges in applied mathematics and their use in industrial innovation at the european level. AMIES publishes job offers from companies searching mathematical skills (data scientist, engineer in machine learning, statistician…).
